Brewer’s Night with Rainy Daze, Wed. March 29th, 5-7p

We’ve had a particularly wet and rainy winter, with brief intermissions of drizzle just for variety. The constant deluge can make a dent in our generally sunny dispositions, and beer helps too. Which is why we are choosing to embrace the rainy days with our friends at Rainy Daze for our latest Brewer’s Night.

Join us Wednesday, March 29th from 5 to 7p, as we host the crew from the brewery. Take cover from the rain, and meet owner and head brewer, Mike Montoney. We’ll have a wide swath of awesome brews on tap, including Jerry Spring-Beer Pale Ale, Goat Boater IPA, a brand new New England-style IPA, Chocolate Kittens Truffle Stout (a collaboration with Barry), and Mind Funk Coffee Blonde Ale. You might even take home some rad brewery schwag. Don’t miss it!

Modern Times Pre-release Preview. Thursday 3/9, 5-7 PM

on Tue, 03/07/2017 - 14:41

It's no secret that San Diego, CA is home to dozens of great breweries. But we have been getting many requests for one brewery in particular:

Modern Times.

Modern Times Primary focus is aroma-driven, complex, flavorful, session-ish beers. They often brew hybrid styles, combining the features they like from established categories to create new, Island-Of-Doctor-Moreau-style mash-ups.

They premiered their brand in the seattle market recently, and will launch in the South Sound within the next few weeks.

Brewer’s Night with Urban Family, Wed. Mar. 1st, 5-7p

Nestled comfortably in Seattle’s quaint neighborhood of Magnolia, one could be forgiven for claiming ignorance about Urban Family Brewing company. Away from the lines and the hype of other Seattle neighborhoods, Urban Family has been churning out brews as varied as Mexican chocolate cake ales and barrel-aged, mixed-fermentation Farmhouse beers. There doesn’t seem to be a style they won’t tackle, as long as they have fun doing it. Everything they make is small batch, hand crafted, and unlike anything else in the city.

Join us Wednesday, March 1st, from 5 to 7 pm as we host the crew from Urban Family for a night of awesome beers and neighborly fun. Drink with the owners and brewers, and we will have four awesome Urban Family brews on tap: Double Citra IPA, Of Both Worlds Nelson Sauvin Dry-Hopped Saison, The Madame Dry-Hopped Sour, and Death to Cereal Breakfast Stout. Don’t miss it!

Silver City Tropic Haze IPA Release Party, Monday, Feb. 27 @ 5p

Dim the lights, cue the lasers and smoke machine because we are hosting a beer release worthy of a Miami club dance party. One of Washington’s most respected and established breweries, Silver City Brewery & Taproom, is bringing to the thirsty masses a hazy, tropical fruit bomb that is sure to dazzle your taste buds with a disco of fruit flavors. And you are getting a chance to be among the very first to try it!

Monday, February 27th, starting at 5pm, we will be tapping up the first keg in Tacoma of the fresh, brand new Silver City Tropic Haze IPA, and to help get the party started, DJ Jordan Marsh will be spinning the synth-wave jamz and performing magic tricks. It’ll be a party not to miss, and we’ll have 6-packs of Tropic Haze IPA for you to keep the party going at home. Don't miss it!

5th Annual Valentine's Day Chocolate & Beer Event, Feb. 13th & 14th

On an average day, Americans consume 100 lbs. of chocolate every second--a figure that spikes during this saccharine holiday. We at Pint Defiance think that is nowhere near enough, so we are doing our part with our 5th Annual Chocolate & Beer Event!  We've teamed up with Olympia’s Bittersweet Chocolate artisan chocolatiers to bring you custom craft chocolates especially crafted to pair well with some unique craft beer.

This two-day event starts at 5:00pm on Monday, Feb. 13th and goes through all day Wednesday the 15th, flights of four beers expertly paired with four custom delectable chocolates will be served Monday and Tuesday for just $14 (tax incl.), until they're gone. Individual packs of chocolates are also available to-go for $8.59

MENU: BEER / CHOCOLATE

*Georgetown Gusto Crema Coffee Ale – paired with White Chocolate Coffee Mousse

Most coffee ales tend to lean toward the dark and bitter. Georgetown worked with Seattle’s Caffe Umbria Coffee to create a beer that is rich, yet light enough to showcase the coffee’s delicate flavors, with a full-bodied mouthfeel provided by a blend of Munich malts and rolled oats.  One taste and it is easy to see why it won the 2016 Gold Medal in the Coffee Beer category at the Great American Beer Fest.

*Block 15 Fat Monk Belgian Dubbel – Paired with Port and Plum Cordial

Block 15 is widely known for making some of the West Coast’s most sought after IPA’s, but they have always had a soft spot for Belgian beers. Aromas of nuts, baked bread, and caramelized sugar give way to deep flavors of plums, figs, dates, & brown sugar in this Belgian Strong Ale. The authentic Trappist yeast stain provides just a hint of spice in the finish.

*Caldera Toasted Coconut Chocolate Porter – Paired with Malted Milk Truffle

Over 300 pounds of hand toasted coconut and a healthy amount of chocolate complete this robust porter. Dark and rich, with bold notes of chocolate, coffee, toffee, macadamia nuts, & toasty coconut. Dark Carmel and crystal malts provide a sturdy back bone to complement a copious amount of chocolate. Rich and slightly sweet. Smells and tastes like an island vacation in a glass!

*Rogue Hazelutley Choctabulous Stout – Paired with Cinnamon Hazelnut Praline

For years, Rogue Brewing fans have been drinking a blend of Chocolate Stout and Hazelnut Brown Nectar at their pubs.  This 60/40 blend of Hazelnut Nectar and Chocolate Stout fuse as one to create a “candy bar in a glass”.  Dark and decadent without being overly sweet.  It has a rich nutty flavor followed by a chocolate truffle finish.
