5th Annual Valentine's Day Chocolate & Beer Event, Feb. 13th & 14th

On an average day, Americans consume 100 lbs. of chocolate every second--a figure that spikes during this saccharine holiday. We at Pint Defiance think that is nowhere near enough, so we are doing our part with our 5th Annual Chocolate & Beer Event!  We've teamed up with Olympia’s Bittersweet Chocolate artisan chocolatiers to bring you custom craft chocolates especially crafted to pair well with some unique craft beer.

This two-day event starts at 5:00pm on Monday, Feb. 13th and goes through all day Wednesday the 15th, flights of four beers expertly paired with four custom delectable chocolates will be served Monday and Tuesday for just $14 (tax incl.), until they're gone. Individual packs of chocolates are also available to-go for $8.59

MENU: BEER / CHOCOLATE

*Georgetown Gusto Crema Coffee Ale – paired with White Chocolate Coffee Mousse

Most coffee ales tend to lean toward the dark and bitter. Georgetown worked with Seattle’s Caffe Umbria Coffee to create a beer that is rich, yet light enough to showcase the coffee’s delicate flavors, with a full-bodied mouthfeel provided by a blend of Munich malts and rolled oats.  One taste and it is easy to see why it won the 2016 Gold Medal in the Coffee Beer category at the Great American Beer Fest.

*Block 15 Fat Monk Belgian Dubbel – Paired with Port and Plum Cordial

Block 15 is widely known for making some of the West Coast’s most sought after IPA’s, but they have always had a soft spot for Belgian beers. Aromas of nuts, baked bread, and caramelized sugar give way to deep flavors of plums, figs, dates, & brown sugar in this Belgian Strong Ale. The authentic Trappist yeast stain provides just a hint of spice in the finish.

*Caldera Toasted Coconut Chocolate Porter – Paired with Malted Milk Truffle

Over 300 pounds of hand toasted coconut and a healthy amount of chocolate complete this robust porter. Dark and rich, with bold notes of chocolate, coffee, toffee, macadamia nuts, & toasty coconut. Dark Carmel and crystal malts provide a sturdy back bone to complement a copious amount of chocolate. Rich and slightly sweet. Smells and tastes like an island vacation in a glass!

*Rogue Hazelutley Choctabulous Stout – Paired with Cinnamon Hazelnut Praline

For years, Rogue Brewing fans have been drinking a blend of Chocolate Stout and Hazelnut Brown Nectar at their pubs.  This 60/40 blend of Hazelnut Nectar and Chocolate Stout fuse as one to create a “candy bar in a glass”.  Dark and decadent without being overly sweet.  It has a rich nutty flavor followed by a chocolate truffle finish.

Brewer’s Night with Silver City, Wed. Feb. 1st, 5-7pm

2016 was a big year for Silver City. They celebrated their 20th Anniversary with a bevy of brews hauled out from their vault, punctuated with what seemed like a year-long party. And celebrate they should; Started in 1996 by Co-owners Steve & Scott Houmes, and it remains a locally owned and operated to this day, turning out some of the most consistent and respected brews in the region.

Just because it is 2017, doesn’t mean we can’t keep the good times rolling. Join us Wednesday, February 1st, from 5pm to 7pm as we welcome the Silver City brew crew for the latest installment of our Brewer’s Night Series. We will be pouring some awesome rare and seasonal beers from their lineup, including Le Fat Belgian-style Sour Scotch Ale, Bourbon Barrel Aged Time Traveller Imperial Stout, Copper Mtn. Maibock, and Nice Day IPA. And get here early, because the first 24 people to order a SC beer will take home a brewery pint glass. Don’t miss it!

Founders Brewing South Sound Debut, Thurs. Jan 19th, 5-7pm

We are so glad Dave Engbers and Mike Stevens gave up stable jobs in 1997 to open what would become the award winning Founders Brewing Co. We are even gladder that after years of maybe-not-so-patiently waiting we can finally (FINALLY) get Founders delivered all the way from Grand Rapids, Michigan to Washington State! Please join us on Thursday, January 19th, from 5 to 7pm, to celebrate this momentous occasion for Washington craft beer enthusiasts and enjoy a wide swath of Founders catalog on draft for the first time here at Pint D! We will be slinging pints of their Imperial Stout, All Day Session IPA, Centennial IPA, Rubaeus Pure Raspberry Ale, Backwoods Bastard Barrel Aged Scotch Ale, Breakfast Stout, and Lizard of Koz bourbon barrel-aged Imperial Stout with blueberries chocolate and vanilla!

Brewer's Night with Block 15, Wed. Jan. 18th, 5-7p

Block 15 Brewing Co. has been a favorite around here for a bit now. We are big fans of fresh IPA and they spoil us by driving all the way from Corvallis, Oregon to deliver cases of their delicious Sticky Hands Double IPA and Gloria! Pilsner the same day it’s canned. It’s no wonder we can barely keep the stuff on the shelf! Nick and Kristen Arzner have been dedicated to churning out amazing beers with as many organic and locally sourced ingredients as possible since 2008. They have implemented measures into their brewing process to conserve water and brew sustainably and we think that’s a pretty stand-up way to do business.Wednesday, Jan 18th from 5 to 7pm, we are very excited welcome the Block15 crew and to pour (and taste test) some rad brews including (but not limited to) their Alpha IPA, Intergalactic Hop Shop IPA, Willie Nelson Pale Ale (beer is always on our minds….), Nebula Stout, The Wild Cimmerian Dark Sour Ale, Hoppy New Year! Imperial IPA, and Figgy Pudding Brandy Barrel Aged Spiced Winter Ale, among others. You won’t want to miss this opportunity to imbibe Block 15’s impeccable ales!

Brewer's Night with Holy Mountain, Wed. Jan. 11th, 5-7p

What more can be said about Seattle's Holy Mountain Brewing that hasn't already been said? Since they opened their doors in 2014, nothing but praise and superlatives have been heaped onto them. With their minimalist taproom and brand design, the focus has been and will always be on one thing: excellent beer. While a majority of their output has primarily been oak conditioned farmhouse ales, they tackle more esoteric styles--like English Milds or Czech-style Pilsners--with aplomb. Droves of beer fans queue up on weekends for their bottle releases, and tourists travel across multiple states to make the pilgramage.

We are lucky to be in close proximity with Holy Mountain, and we are taking advantage of that for the first Brewer's Night of 2017. Join us Wednesday, January 11th, from 5pm to 7pm as we host the crew from Holy Mountain in what is sure to also be the best Brewer's Night of 2017 (thus far). We will have some awesome brews on tap, including the infamous Kiln & Cone Dry-Hopped Pale, Three Fates Czech-style Pilsner, Covenant Oak-Aged Farmhouse, Barrel-Aged King's Head Double Brown Ale, plus bottle pours of Corpse Reviver Barrel-Fermented Sour Ale with lemon zest. You won't want to miss this.

UPDATE: Two more Holy Mountain brews have been added to this already killer lineup--Crystal Ship Foudre Aged Saison and Bonne Nuit Belgian Style Strong Ale!
